Australia: Consultations on National Digital ID Open

Australia’s Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) is seeking public input on digital identity legislation that will expand the use of digital ID in the country. In its call for consultations, DTA explains the evolution of identity verification in Australia, making the case for an integrated system that would reduce costs for individuals, businesses, and the economy. Some of the issues for which views are being sought include safeguards for ID users, governance of the programme, and the interaction of the digital ID programme with other policies, programmes, and laws.
