Author: The European Union Member States, the United States and 33 other signatories

The European Union, the United States and 33 other international partners jointly set out the vision and principles of a trusted Internet in the Declaration. To maintain a future of the Internet that is open, free, global, interoperable, reliable and secure, partners affirmed that core democratic principles, fundamental freedoms and human rights must be observed on the Internet.

Digital technologies should avoid unfair discrimination and permit contestability of online platforms with fair competition among businesses. The partners also share a vision of using digital technologies to advance connectivity, democracy, peace, the rule of law and sustainable development.
