WIPO suspends domain name dispute resolution service for .ua

WIPO has halted domain name dispute resolution services for .ua, as the registry and center have decided to pause new filings under the policy. This decision impacts Ukrainian registrars and registrants who may no longer be able to engage fully in arbitration proceedings.

The World Intellectual Property Organization’s Arbitration and Mediation Centre has suspended the provision of domain name dispute resolution services related to .ua domain names. A statement on the WIPO website notes that ‘In consultation with the .UA Registry, the Center has determined that it is not in a position to accept new .UA filings under the .UA Policy until further notice’. Hostmaster, the registry for the .ua country-code top level domain, explained that ‘the decision is due to the fact that Ukrainian registrars and registrants may now be deprived of the opportunity to fully participate in arbitration proceedings’.
