Ukranian Commissioner stresses to protect children’s personal data

The Ukranian Commissioner has stressed on the need to protect the privacy of children online and balance their right to education services in the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic where education has moved online.  The Commissioner suggested that the  best standards and guidelines of the Council of Europe should  be taken into account when developing relevant national recommendations, especially the tools for protecting the right to privacy of children, in particular in the field of online education. He further proposed to  read the Guidelines of the Advisory Committee of Convention 108 language that contains separate recommendations for legislators and policy makers, recommendations for data owners and recommendations for the education services industry.

In the month of March, the Coordinating Council for Personal Data Protection  decided to set up a working group to develop  recommendations for the Ministry of Education and Science on how  to regulate online educational services in Ukraine.
