Uber taken to court in Turkey

Taxi drivers in Istanbul, Turkey, have filed legal action against Uber, accusing the company of operating an unlicensed taxi service in Turkey. Claiming that the Uber business model is ‘endangering their livelihoods’, Istanbul taxi drivers have asked for a ban on Uber’s operation in the country. A first hearing in the case was held on 12 March, and it saw taxi drivers rallying in front of the Istanbul court hearing the case. The next hearing is scheduled for June.
