Uber launches COVID-19 contact tracing in USA

Uber has started a service to give public health authorities prompt access to user data to track coronavirus cases. The service will be provided for free. The service provides health departments with data about who used Uber’s services and when. This data will allow health authorities to require affected drivers and riders to quarantine. Uber’s terms of services allow the company to disclose user’s information to public health agencies in cases of emergency involving danger of death or physical injury. Health authorities have welcomed the initiative to fight against the COVID-19. So far, the US does not have a federal contact tracing service operating.
