Twitter has appointed compliance, nodal and grievance officer to comply with India’s new regulations on social media

Twitter has appointed a permanent employee to serve as chief of compliance, grievance and nodal officer in India. These roles are required by the law passed in February 2020 in India. The regulation has been disputed by the main social media companies. The government had warned Twitter about unintended consequences if it failed to comply with the new law and argued that the platform lost its liability immunity for users’ illegal posts because of its non-compliance.
