South Asia Press Freedom Report 2017-2018

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) released the South Asia Press Freedom Report 2017-2018 detailing the challenges of ‘clampdowns and controls’ facing journalists at work in South Asia. Political divisions, Internet shutdowns, fake news, and other serious problems for freedom of expression and human rights are chronicled in the report. Internet shutdowns or social media controls in India (Kashmir), Pakistan, and Sri Lanka are highlighted, as well as other, even life-threatening difficulties faced by journalists in South Asia.
