Chen Jining, Shanghai’s Communist Party Secretary, conveyed this message during a meeting with Smith. Additionally, Shanghai expressed openness to collaborating with Microsoft to explore governance frameworks and standards related to technology.

Meanwhile, another American company, Nvidia Corp, is engaging China to advance AI, specifically in developing chips with Chinese server suppliers. However, Chinese developers are exploring alternative options due to dissatisfaction with Nvidia’s AI chip. In response to these concerns, Nvidia has suggested launching a specialized AI chip for the Chinese market by the first quarter of 2024, per the US embargo on China.
