Scotland testing digital ID prototype
The Scottish government is testing a digital ID prototype, during a 10 week development and testing cycle. Announcing progress on the digital ID project, lead for the Digital Identity Scotland (DIS) programme, Mike Crockart explained that the two companies earlier awarded contracts were testing the technical feasibility and usability of the service. They were using dummy data to assess how the digital ID could be reused across multiple public and private services. Scotland begun developing its own digital ID in 2018 following a government decision to not to adopt UK’s digital ID service, Verify.
