Quebecois privacy bill to allow information disclosure of the deceased

The National Assembly of Quebec introduced a bill titled Act to Modernize Legislative Provisions as Regards the Protection of Personal Information. The bill clarifies the conditions that allow releases of personal information without consent of the person concerned. For instance, public and private entities are required to release personal information of the deceased to their spouse or a close relative ‘if knowledge of the information could help the applicant in the grieving process and if the deceased person did not record in writing his refusal to grant such a right of access’.
