Pakistan launches e-commerce portal to support entrepreneurs, freelancers

To support young entrepreneurs, the government of Pakistan assured its commitment to equip youth with the required digital skills that can support their livelihood, drive revenue growth, and help bridge the trade deficit. To this aim, the government announced a zero-tax rate for freelancers in the information technology sector and launched an e-commerce portal dubbed ‘National e-Tijarat Portal.’ The portal will offer freelancers access to education and marketplace opportunities, promote ‘Made-in-Pakistan’ products in every region, and provide information on logistics companies, banks, online transfer facilities, shipment, market access, taxation, bookings for logistics, and live data of startups and freelancers. Additionally, an e-commerce accreditation body is announced to be established to accredit freelancers.
