Nigerian government to collect 200,000 tonnes of e-waste

The Nigerian government has revealed plans to collect 200,000 tonnes of electronic waste in the country which is one of the world’s largest importers of e-waste. The plan was released during training for enforcement officers and value chain for the Extended Producers Responsibility (EPR) under the Global Environment Facility (GEF) project. The training is aimed at ensuring that producers take responsibility in the management of wastes from their products, even when products become obsolete.
