New Zealand leads as Australia lags in Digital Accessibility

A survey was conducted on digital accessibility to online platforms and services, with about 650 medium and large businesses, public sector entities, and not-for-profit organisations participating. Lack of understanding of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines(WCAG) was the main reason given for (In)accessibility.
The report showed that less than half (47%) of Australian organisations have made significant accessibility improvements for customers and employees, compared to around two-thirds (62%) in New Zealand. New Zealand has also put in place an  Accessibility Act , along with a new ministry known as: Office for  Disability Issues, which is the focal point in government on Disability issues.
