Monaco’s main telecommunication company, owned partially by the Monegasque government, Monaco Telecom, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Huawei aimed to foster deployment of smart city services in Monaco. According to the MoU, the parties will work together to develop technology solutions for Internet of things (IoT), big data, and the cloud as part of Monaco's 5G Smart Nation project.
The Internet of Things (IoT) includes a wide range of Internet-connected devices, from highly digitalised cars, home appliances (e.g. fridges), and smart watches, to digitalised clothes that can monitor health. IoT devices are often connected in wide-systems, typically described as 'smart houses' or 'smart cities'.
