Leveraging mobile can improve government revenue and access to public services, GSMA study

GSMA produced a report on the process of digitalising person-to-government payments with a special focus on mobile money. It identifies the benefits of digital payments for governments, citizens, businesses, and the economy at large with examples provided from Rwanda and Cambodia to showcase the impact that can be achieved by digital government services and payments. The report further pinpoints some recommendations to digitalise government services and payments including defining a clear strategy, supporting at the highest level, conducting a landscape study of government services to identify the most promising opportunities, digitalising services end to end, support expansion and usage of connectivity, implementing user-friendly digital payments and services accessible by all, and adopt measures to improve awareness and usage of digital government services and payments.
