ITU Radiocommunication Assembly highlights: 5G, IoT, satellites and accessibility

The ITU Radiocommunication Assembly, which took place from 26 to 30 November, addressed the new directions in telecommunications. Several highlights:

  • IMT-2020 Resolution on 5G mobile systems was approved.
  • The Assembly committed to conduct studies on the ‘technical and operational aspects of radio networks and systems’ for the Internet of Things.
  • The Assembly agreed to develop material on small satellites.
  • The Assembly requested ITU-R to continue its work on the needs of persons with disabilities.
