Irish data protection authority annual report indicates increase in complaints

The Irish data protection authority reported it received 2 864 privacy complaints from the public since the EU general data protection regulation (GDPR) was enacted in May and 4 113 in total for 2018, up 56% compared to 2017. Helen Dixon, head of the Irish data protection watchdog, also indicated that the GDPR has generated 1.000 positions of data protection officers across Ireland.
