Google wins WIPO domain name case against Youtube converter site

The World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) Arbitration and Mediation Center has issued a decision in Google LLC v. Global Domain Privacy Services Inc / Ken Nguyen over the domain name ‘youtubeconverter.io’. Google claimed that the defendant registered this domain name for converting and downloading video and audio files from YouTube while displaying pay-per-click advertisements, thus breaching Google’s registered intellectual property rights and reaping undue financial benefits.

The WIPO’s Arbitration and Mediation Center found that the defendant had registered and used the domain name ‘youtubeconverter.io’ in bad faith and ordered it to be transferred to Google.
