Council of Europe starts implementation of new strategy to protect child rights

The Council of Europe is launching a new initiative to protect child rights. The implementation process of the 2022-2027 Strategy for the Rights of the Child has begun, focusing on areas like children’s mental health, technology access, and children as human rights defenders. The Steering Committee for the Rights of the Child is actively involved in these efforts, as demonstrated during their recent online meeting.

The Steering Committee for the Rights of the Child (CDENF) kickstarted its work on implementing the new Council of Europe Strategy for the Rights of the Child (2022-2027), during a first online meeting on 4-6 July 2022 held under a new Strategy cycle.

The implementation phase of the new strategy was initiated with activities related to children’s mental health, artificial intelligence and children’s rights, and children as human rights defenders. Part of the new strategy is dedicated to children’s access and safe use of technology.
