CNIL opens investigation against adtech company Criteo

According to TechCrunch, CNIL, the French data protection authority, has launched an investigation into Criteo, following a complaint from Privacy International in 2018. In its adtech complaint, Privacy International had called several data protection authorities to investigate Criteo and other companies, alleging their processing of data had no lawful basis. A Criteo spokesperson has indicated the company is ‘currently collaborating with the CNIL in their review’.
