Irish AI training start-up raises €1 million to set global skills standard
A new edtech start-up, AICertified, has secured €1 million in seed funding to develop a university-accredited, globally recognised framework for professional artificial intelligence competency that employers and learners can rely on.
Irish education technology company AICertified has raised €1 million in seed investment, led by Oyster Capital with support from Enterprise Ireland, to build a global standard for AI skills and certification.
Founded by AI education pioneer Ian Dodson, the venture aims to establish a certified pathway aligned with the European Qualifications Framework, creating reliable and industry-validated benchmarks for professional AI competence.
The funding will support product development, platform scaling, and team expansion, with plans to launch course offerings, ranging from short modules to professional diplomas and postgraduate credentials, beginning in early 2026.
AICertified’s founders argue that the current AI training landscape is fragmented and lacks consistent quality standards, and that the new certification framework will provide employers and students with trustworthy measures of AI capability in a rapidly evolving labour market.
