WTO, WEF, eWTP launch new initiative for small businesses

The World Trade Organization (WTO), the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the Electronic World Trade Platform (eWTP) joined forces to launch a new initiative to drive public-private dialogue on e-commerce that can benefit micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). The Enabling E-commerce initiative, launched during WTO’s 11th Ministerial Conference in Buenos Aires, aims to bring together governments, businesses, and other stakeholders to begin a high-level discussion on e-commerce policies and practices for small businesses. The initiative will start its work early in 2018 with a high-level meeting at the WEF’s annual gathering in Davos in January. A major event in Geneva is planned for later in the year.
