World Intellectual Property Organisation Aims to Combat Piracy With New Blocklist
WIPO Secretariat launched this database in order to help Member states in helping to combat copyright infringements per follow the money approach. The idea is that authorised agencies of WIPO member states can upload a list of websites that facilitate infringement of copyright. Users of database should be legitimate advertisers that can check these websites in order to avoid their advertising accidentally end on copyright-infringing websites. The aim of this initiative is to reduce the flow of money to illegal website operators.
