WEF’s Global Competitiveness Index highlights the importance of digital skills during Covid-19

The Global Competitiveness Index published by the World Economic Forum (WEF) highlighted that the countries that possess better digital skills had a better performance during Covid-19. The study underlined that while the global pandemic accelerated digitalisation, it widened the digital divide and made it more difficult for countries or regions that were already lagging behind to catch up with the more advanced states. The Report highlights that priority should be given to closing the digital divide within countries for households and private companies alike. Like in the previous years, the study provides a list of the top performing countries and territories in the domain of ICT adoption, with South Korea, United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong as the top performers.
