USA: Restoring Internet Freedom order published in the Federal Register

The Restoring Internet Freedom order adopted by the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in December 2017 was published in the US Federal Register on 22 February. While several provisions of the order are to enter into force on 23 April, it is still uncertain when the parts which revoke the net neutrality protection rules become applicable. As explained by The Verge, this is because those provisions ‘modify data collection requirements and therefore have to be approved by the Office of Management and Budget’. However, the publication of the order means that legal challenges can now be brought against it. A move that already started with attorneys-general in 22 states and Washington DC refiling a lawsuit against the FCC order.
