According to the Act, the Federal Trade Commission will require IoT manufacturers to disclose whether recording hardware is installed into smart devices. The Act targets specifically smart appliances like refrigerators and pet feeders. It will not apply to cell phones, laptops, or tablets that customers expect to include a microphone or a camera. The Act was also presented at the Senate.
