US diplomat: the USA maintains contact with Russia on cybersecurity issues

The USA and Russia continue to maintain contact on cybersecurity issues, Nathaniel Fick, the US Department of State’s Ambassador-at-Large for Cyberspace and Digital Policy, has stated. Fick made this comment during a meeting with the Defense Writers Group in Washington, where he emphasised the importance of maintaining communication channels ‘when things are hard’. While he could not provide details, Fick confirmed that the channel was still open.

Previously, on 7 April 2022, Washington shut down the only bilateral communication channel on cybersecurity with Moscow due to the Russia-Ukraine war.
