U.S. ‘deeply disappointed’ of EU court decision on Privacy Shield

According to Reuters, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the United States was “deeply disappointed” in a ruling by the Court of Justice of the European Union that the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield is invalid because of concerns about U.S. surveillance. Pompeo said that the United States would review the consequences and implications of the decision, and ‘will continue to work closely with the EU to find a mechanism to enable the essential unimpeded commercial transfer of data from the EU to the United States’.
