US Congress introduces legislation to ban e-waste exports to China
A group of congresspersons introduced the Secure E-waste Export and Recycling Act (SEERA) to the US House of Representatives with an aim to put an end to counterfeit electronics made in China. They claim that China regularly uses e-waste to counterfeit electronics, and exports these products, including military equipment, back to the USA. The bill advocates that this poses a serious threat to national security.
Under the SEERA, all untested and non-working e-waste would be recycled domestically, which in turn would result in the creation of a number of jobs in the USA.
