UNHRC 49: UK stresses on interactive dialogue to protect children online

UK in its statement at the 49th UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC)  has raised concern over the ever evolving and complex threat of child sexual exploitation and abuse online.  To tackle the issue, the UK stressed on the need to continue to have open dialogue, learn and share insights and approaches.  The UK reiterated its commitment to tackle the issue and highlighted the upcoming Online Safety legislation. 
UK supports the  Special Rapporteur’s view that collective action is needed  across local, national, and global levels to strengthen to keep children safe online and is committed to work with international partners to to implement the Voluntary Principles to Counter Online Child Sexual Exploitation. UK also called upon the Special Rapporteur, to discuss what further collective measures should be prioritised to tackle child sexual exploitation and abuse.
