UNCTAD B2C E-commerce Index headed by Luxembourg

UNCTAD has released the 2016 B2C E-commerce Index. The index ranks 137 countries on four indicators: 1) Internet use penetration, 2) secure servers per 1 million inhabitants, 3) credit card penetration, and 4) postal reliability. The ranking, which is headed by Luxembourg, demonstrates that more and more countries design policies to capture the potential of e-commerce, although ‘e-commerce readiness’ varies by region. In Africa, Internet access remains a pressing problem, while Western Asia is mainly struggling with credit card availability. In Latin America, poor postal reliability is among the main obstacles to e-commerce.
