UK plans for digital ID governing body

The UK has launched a consultation on proposals for a governing body on digital ID. The proposed body will oversee organisations in the digital ID industry, and ensure that they adhere to rules that were published earlier in the year. Digital Infrastructure Minister Matt Warman stated that the proposal’s goal was to increase trust in digital ID. The governing body is likely to be housed within an existing regulator. The consultation  is open to the public and closes on 13 September.
