UK makes plans to retire Verify digital ID infrastructure

Natalie Jones has been appointed to oversee the retirement of the UK’s Verify platform by March 2023. The government allocated £4.1m for this transition as new applications stopped being accepted on 1 April 2022. Jones will also be managing the introduction of the One Login single sign-on project, set for deployment in 2025. She will report to the Government Digital Service.

The UK government has appointed Natalie Jones as senior responsible owner (SRO) to retire the country’s GOV.UK Verify platform by the end of March 2023. Jones will also be in charge of the One Login- the single sign-on project that will replace Verify. One Login is planned for deployment in 2025. 
A budget of £4.1m (roughly US$5.12 million)has been allocated for the retirement of  Verify, which stopped accepting new applications on 1 April 2022. Jones will primarily report to the Government Digital Service (GDS).
