UK Government consulting kerbside scheme to cut electronic waste
The UK government is considering launching a nationwide kerbside collection of obsolete electrical appliances and gadgets to improve the recycling of e-waste. The government is consulting on the best way to implement and fund such schemes across the country. It is considering new measures to increase the obligation for online marketplaces and retailers, such as Amazon, to withdraw unwanted or broken electronics and force companies to show on the product’s label how easy it was to repair an item whether it contains recyclable parts.
