Twitter informs almost 700,000 users on interaction with Russian propaganda

After American intelligence agencies concluded that Russia conducted sophisticated campaigns to influence the U.S. Presidential election of 2016, Twitter decided to notify nearly 700,000 users who interacted with accounts defined as potential pieces of Russian propaganda. Still, the spread of disinformation and misinformation by fake accounts remains: their content continues to be reposted by other accounts, and as a result, such information continues to be available on the platform. Twitter is currently taking efforts, underlined by the Twitter Public Policy department, to inform users of misinformation campaigns, provide examples of Russian propaganda content and accounts, and to improve the necessary measures to secure civic discussion and engagement.
