Twitter deleted fake accounts linked to the governments of Serbia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Honduras, and Indonesia. While 8558 accounts were linked to the ruling Serbian Progressive Party, (SNS). another 5350 accounts were associated with the Saudi monarchy operating out of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). There was also another Egyptian network of 2541 accounts linked to the pro-government El Fagr newspaper . Finally, 3000 accounts were traced down to an employee of the Honduran president, Juan Orlando Hernández. The Head of Site Integrity of Twitter, Yoel Roth, explained that the removal of the accounts were part of an effort to detect and investigate state-backed information operations.
