Trade negotiators of EU and Mercosur resume bilateral talks

Trade negotiators from the EU and Mercosur resumed formal talks and met between 4 to 8 June, in Montevideo. Although negotiators mentioned that progress has been made, there is not yet a timeframe for concluding the trade deal. According to the European Commission, there is still work to be done, notably on cars and car parts, geographical indications, maritime transport and dairy. Progress has been made in other areas, such as government procurement chapter, rules of origin chapter, trade defence instruments.
