The European Commission is developing new legislation, ‘Further specifying procedural rules relating to the enforcement of the General Data Protection Regulation‘ that will clarify the procedural guidelines governing the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This law will address the challenges that have arisen in enforcing GDPR and will aim to strengthen the efforts of privacy regulators across the EU member states. The proposed law is expected to be put forward by the European Commission before summer.

Particularly its aim is to streamline cooperation between national data protection authorities when enforcing the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in cross-border cases. Furthermore, it shall harmonise administrative procedures the national data protection authorities apply in cross-border cases and ensure the smooth functioning of the GDPR cooperation and dispute resolution mechanisms.
