Tensions between Facebook and Israeli government on the rise
The Israeli government has accused Facebook of ‘sabotaging’ Israeli police by ‘setting a very high bar for removing inciteful content and posts’. The Israeli government is currently drafting a law that would enable Israeli authorities to order social media sites to remove content that is deemed threatening. Facebook responded that it is doing its share to remove dangerous content, and that there is no room for content that ‘promotes violence, direct threats, terrorist or hate speeches on our platform.’
