Taiwan to invest in AI initiatives

Taiwan is planning a $527 million investment in the development of artificial intelligence (AI). The development plan will be primarily focused on the creation of research labs, with an AI manufacturing base to be opened in Central Taiwan Science Park in September, an an AI development centre to be created in Southern Taiwan Science Park soon after. In addition, funds will be used to support initiatives in five areas: AI-based public services; adding value to sectors like medicine and finance using AI; helping companies incorporate AI; promoting public participation in AI development; and building up innovation capacity for smart robotics.
