Supreme Court reserves order on pleas seeking restoration of 4G Internet services in Jammu and Kashmir

According to a report, the Supreme Court of India has reserved its order on petitions seeking the restoration of 4G Internet services in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. 4G Internet services have been shut down since August 2019 following the abrogation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of the Indian constitution.

The three judges of the court have stated that they are considering all issues raised and have all the materials they require to make orders on the matter.

Whereas the petitioners’ lawyers argued the disadvantages of 2G services in supporting education, delivery, and other services;  Solicitor General, Tushar Mehta, justified the decision to cut 4G services as a means to curb terrorist activities in the region.
