Snapchat updates guidelines to combat misleading and harmful images

Snapchat has renewed its guidelines for publishers to ensure that all content is fact-checked and accurate. In addition, it will allow publishers to block certain content from minors. Snapchat has received criticism last year, both with regard to misleading images, as well as as for exposing minors ‘to harmful, offensive, prurient and sexually offensive content without warning minors or their parents that they would be exposed to such explicit content’ – which resulted in a lawsuit. The lawsuit was eventually dismissed, and Snapchat is now taking pre-emptive action to limit these kinds of problems.
