Philippines launches authentication platform for national ID
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has introduced an authentication platform for the country’s national ID. Known as Philsys Check, the platform is web-based and it uses public private key cryptography to enable relying parties to check the authenticity of PSA-issued QR code. This means that relying parties such as government or private entities can verify the QR code at the back of Phil ID. Philsys Check was piloted from November last year with 13 financial institutions.
