Orlando shootings highlight the danger of online radicalisation
The head of the FBI, James Comey, and U.S. President Obama confirmed that the man who killed almost 50 people in a nightclub in Orlando was strongly radicalised on the Internet. Obama told the press that the man was ‘inspired by various extremist information that was disseminated over the internet,’ and Comey stated that there are ‘strong indications of radicalization by this killer, and of potential inspiration by foreign terrorist organizations.’ Online radicalisation was also addressed by the European Commission on Monday.
