NITDA and Womenovate have agreed to collaborate on gender equality in digital technology, focusing on women’s involvement in STEM fields.

Ms. Hadiza Umar, Head of Corporate Affairs and External Relations of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), announced that NITDA and Womenovate will collaborate in the future to ensure gender equality in digital technology.

Womenovate is an online platform that educates and advances Nigerian women in STEM-related fields. Womenovate CEO Motunrayo Opayinka honored the program and expected increased interaction among women specialists online.

Mr Kashifu Inuva, NITDA’s Director General, emphasized the necessity of women’s involvement in the digital age for their growth and ICT empowerment. He also stated that Nigeria is a center for developing digital innovation as it supports creating new employment opportunities. This is why NITDA is responsible for coordinating digital innovation at the national level and creating an enabling environment that optimizes the possibilities of women.

NITDA aspires to generate life-changing possibilities for women through its Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan. The Digital Gender Inclusion Strategy seeks to close the gender digital divide while promoting accessibility, digital literacy, and a secure online environment.
