NIOS gets Unesco literacy award for inclusive learning

 UNESCO International Literacy Prizes have rewarded excellence and innovation in the field of literacy, since 1967. This year , the focus was on “ Inclusive distance and digital literacy”. 

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), run by the Ministry of Education in India, won the prestigious  King Sejong Literacy Prize,  for enabling education for persons with disabilities through technology -enabled inclusive learning materials focused on Indian sign language based content . In an award ceremony organised at UNESCO’s New Delhi office on 10th July, 2021, Professor Saroj Sharma, Chairperson, NIOS, thanked UNESCO for recognizing the efforts made by NIOS in the field of education and literacy.
