New Indian data protection legislation to be considered by Parliament

According to India Today, the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) in India has adopted the draft report on the Personal Data Protection (PDP) Bill. This draft text had been under discussion since 2019, and could be presented in the upcoming Winter Session of Parliament.  The draft report has raised concerns from some members of the Parliament, due to the exemptions it introduces, the power it grants to any government agency, and the limited scope of penalties.
