Myanmar junta cuts internet access in anti-regime resistance strongholds

According to a news report, the military government in Myanmar has shut down internet access with several townships affected within the Sagaing and Mandalay regions. The report notes that the affected townships are strongholds of anti-regime resistance groups. Myanmar’s three main telecom operators  made up of MPT, Telenor and Oredoo had their mobile and wifi internet services blocked from 12:30 pm local time on Tuesday 15 September, 2021. It has been the position of activists in Myanmar that the junta forces have blocked the internet access because they are afraid that people will share information of the atrocities.
