Myanmar blocks website run by activist investigating the military

According to a news report, the Myanmar government has blocked the website of an activist group that is investigating officials who are involved in the business interests of the Myanmar military (Tatmadaw) and simultaneously holding government positions. According to the report, the group known as Justice for Myanmar , revealed in May that two directors of the military-owned Myanmar Economic Holdings Public Company Limited (MEHL) also served in top government posts, which constitutes a conflict of interest. Civil society groups have accused the government of Myanmar of curtailing freedom of expression and stifling dissenting views. The report states further that authorities have in recent months ordered telecommunication companies to block more than 200 websites under the guise of stopping fake news in accordance with section 77 of the Telecommunications Law in Myanmar.
